The Trinidad and Tobago Association of Village and Community Councils (TTAVCC) is a constitutionally mandated national regulatory organization that supports Registered Village and Community Councils, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Trinidad and Tobago Association of Village and Community Councils (TTAVCC) aims to promote the interests and welfare of the community by fostering cultural, recreational, educational, spiritual, social, and economic activities. It also aims to cooperate with government and other agencies in promoting community development activities aimed at improving life in the communities of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Trinidad and Tobago Association of Village and Community Councils (TTAVCC) is made up of numerous Unit Councils, which are groups of people who represent the views and interests of their local community.
The Branch Associations of the TTAVCC are smaller governing bodies within the TTAVCC that represent specific areas or neighborhoods within the specific counties of Trinidad and Tobago.
The Trinidad and Tobago Association of Village and Community Councils (TTAVCC) involves itself in communities through organizing regular council and community meetings, providing volunteer opportunities, conducting community surveys, and involving residents in the budgeting process through participatory budgeting.
The Trinidad and Tobago Association of Village and Community Councils (TTAVCC) plays an important role in promoting national integration by fostering a sense of community and belonging among residents of Trinidad and Tobago, organizing community & national events and activities that address socio-economic issues, promote development, celebrate cultural diversity, and addressing issues that may undermine national integration.
To become a general member of the TTAVCC you must first join a registered TTAVCC Unit Council within your Community or Village. In order to become an executive member, you must have at least three (3) months general membership prior to the executive elections held every two (2) years at the Unit Council’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
All prospective TTAVCC Members must be at least fifteen (15) years old and cannot be a current member of any other registered TTAVCC Unit Council. Prospective members must complete and submit a Unit Council (TTAVCC FORM REG-1A) Membership Application Form, and are also required to submit a copy of one (1) form of identification, pay an initial registration fee of twenty ($20TTD) dollars, and an monthly subscription fee of ten ($10TTD) dollars.
All prospective TTAVCC Organizations must complete an Affiliation of Community Organization (TTAVCC FORM REG-1B) Application Form and submit a copy of their registered NPO Certificate, an initial affiliation fee of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($150.00TTD), and an annual subscription fee of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($150.00TTD).
All TTAVCC Members and Affiliates are required to maintain an annual subscription fee. The membership or affiliate subscription fees covers the period of January to December of each year. Existing TTAVCC Members with up-to-date subscription payments are afforded the opportunity to be nominated as Executive Members in their respective Unit Council. TTAVCC Affiliate organizations such as Community-Based Organizations, Village and Community Councils with up-to-date subscriptions are provided with access to TTAVCC administrative resources and affiliate services.

The Trinidad and Tobago Association of Village and Community Councils (TTAVCC) is fundamentally an organization of individuals serving their communities through a structured institution. The TTAVCC is comprised of three (3) internal bodies; The National Executive, The Branch Associations and The Unit Councils. Each level providing degrees of oversight and guidance for the overall membership and communities they serve.
Each Unit Council in the TTAVCC has a General Membership comprising of registered members within a particular community in Trinidad and Tobago. The Executive Membership of the Unit Council are a body of thirteen (13) General Members elected every year to manage and represent the affairs of the Unit Council. The Unit Council is the direct interface between the Communities / Villages and the TTAVCC, which provides meeting spaces, events and activities managed by the Executives and supported by the General Membership, Registered Affiliates and the stakeholders of the Council.
The Branch Association is a county-based overseeing body of the TTAVCC for registered Unit Councils in a regional area. The Branch Association supports all the Unit Councils within a geographic territory by providing them with technical support, mediation, election oversight, administrative resources, demographic reports and national data. Each Branch Association is directly responsible for serving as a two-way communication node between the National Executive and the Unit Councils. Members serving within a Branch Association are elected from a group of experienced Unit Council Executive Members who volunteered to become Branch Association Representatives.
The National Executive body of the TTAVCC are elected to work with all the Branch Associations, and may work directly with Unit Councils on special events and activities. This body is the direct interface between the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and all the Village and Community Councils of the TTAVCC. Their primary functions are to advocate on behalf of the communities of the country, and to represent, monitor and manage all the Unit Councils of the TTAVCC.
